Virginia M. (Bartz) D'Lamatter, 95, died on May 14, 2022 at Bickford Senior Living in Battle Creek, Michigan.
Virginia spent many years working for the City of Battle Creek Planning Department. Virginia always held a special place in her heart for St. Philip Church and Catholic education in Battle Creek. Virginia has supported the Battle Creek Area Catholic Schools Foundation annually for several decades. Virginia was an active member of St. Philip Parish and quite often would join the High School students for their weekly school masses.
Sewing, travel, philanthropy, great attention to detail in all aspects of her life and a strict diet provided many years of an exemplary life of graciousness and Christian values. She will be greatly missed.
At her request, no services will be held. Memorial mass at St. Philip Catholic Church will take place on June 12 and 26 at 9am mass. Eileen Ann (Chase) Sheehan, 97 of Battle Creek died peacefully on Wednesday, May 18, 2022 at Lakeview Assisted living, with her family at her side.
Eileen was born April 26, 1925, in Detroit, Michigan to Ward Neil and Anna Marie (Zimmerman) Chase. She moved to Battle Creek as a child and began attending St. Philip Elementary in third grade. Eileen was a 1943 graduate of St. Philip Catholic Central. After high school, she lived in Detroit with her Aunt Betty (Lloyd) and worked in downtown Detroit: first at Hudson's and then for Consolidated Gas Company, now DTE. When Eileen returned to Battle Creek, she was employed at Ermisch Travel for Max Ermisch and enjoyed the travel business and was able to travel to many beautiful places. Eileen Ann Chase was united in marriage to David Sheehan on March 2, 1957, at St. Philip Catholic Church. Eileen and Dave were able to take a two-week honeymoon to Acapulco, Mexico. In later years Eileen was an election official.
Surviving are Dave and Eileen's seven children, Sandra (Patrick) Egan of Rochester, MN, Patricia (Dennis) O'Neill of Rockford, MI, Lucy (Jeffrey) Sailor of Commerce Township, David (Tracy) Sheehan of Jackson, MI, Mary (Randy) Sanford of Battle Creek, Matthew Sheehan of Wyoming, MI, Elizabeth Berner of Bay City, MI; eight grandchildren, Sean Egan, Ann and Claire O'Neill, Sydney and Caryn Sailor, Emily (Darrin) Merwin, Clark (Devin Nelson) Sanford, Maggie Berner; two great-grandchildren, Cecelia and Madeline Merwin; several nieces and nephews and their families. Eileen was preceded in death by her husband, Dave on April 12, 2008, her parents, a sister Marjorie Brandli and a brother, Robert Chase.
Eileen was a devoted member of St. Philip Roman Catholic Church. She believed strongly in her faith and was active in CCW, St. Martha's Circle, Perpetual Adoration, Birth Right and the St. Philip Thrift Shop. She and Dave volunteered for the Franklin Food Pantry. She loved Beadle Lake, her Council Crest Book Club and neighbors, entertaining and just being with people. She loved picnics, family gatherings, holiday parties and everything family. Eileen will be remembered for her positive attitude and she and Dave's favorite saying, "we are lovers, not fighters."
Friends will be received from 6 to 8 p.m. on Wednesday, May 25th at Farley Estes Funeral Home & Cremation Care, where the Rosary will be recited at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Philip Roman Catholic Church 10:00 a.m. Thursday, May 26, 2022. Committal and interment will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery.
