I am a Michigan transplant, having grown up east of St. Louis, Missouri, in Belleville, Illinois, a modest German settlement in the St. Louis suburbs. To teach my parents patience, God gave my parents thirteen children, and to reinforce the lesson, the last four of us were boys (I’m number eleven). I went to college seminary in Chicago, at Loyola University, and studied theology at the North American College in Rome. Since ordination in 2006, I have been at St. Augustine & St. Thomas More, Kalamazoo, Hackett High School, St. Monica, St. Mary, Kalamazoo, and most recently at St. Ann, Augusta. I also had a brief time in Grand Rapids, at Sacred Heart of Jesus parish, where I had the opportunity to begin discussions toward revamping the school into a classical curriculum program. Since that time, the cause of classical education has been dear to my heart.
